BLOOM is a collection of handwoven three dimensional samples, made on a traditional dobby loom.
The more shafts a loom has, the more difficult patterns can be created. In this collection, the amount of shafts is used to create multi-layered weavings instead of making decorative patterns.
By crossing the layers at certain points, a seamless three dimensional shape can be obtained after cutting the cloth off the loom. This way there is no flat surface with a front and a backside anymore, instead the weaving unfolds into an object.
The samples are made out of cotton and paper yarn. Color is added to show the traces of the making process.
